International food safety authorities have jointly updated safety regulations for baby bottles and tableware, expanding restrictions on bisphenol compounds beyond BPA to include BPS, BPF, and DHBP. The new rules mandate that all plastic feeding products must undergo migration testing for these substances, with a strict limit of 0.05 mg/kg for DHBP.
Under the revised standards, products that fail testing will be banned from sale in major markets. This move follows recent studies showing that some “BPA-free” alternatives still pose endocrine-disrupting risks. Manufacturers are accelerating material upgrades, with many shifting to food-grade silicone, glass, or stainless steel to meet compliance. Industry insiders note the update will raise global safety thresholds while guiding parents toward safer, non-toxic options.
